Macho46 is a further development of our feed carrier concept MachoFeeder46 as this is a combined feed carrier and live fish carrier. With two cargo tanks with 500 m3 capacity and a dedicated loading area for feed - capacity 256 tons - this is a multi-purpose vessel which means that the feed carrier does not have to return empty from the fish farm.
It has also been designed to be able to transport containers of diesel oil and fresh water to the fish farms on the deck.
The vessel can be equipped with large battery packs to provide a green environmental profile. A bow thruster of 450 kW is provided, and together with an efficient ballast system it gives the vessel good maneuverability.
The crew facilities are of high class. The design features a large mess and dayroom, coffee bar, six cabins and clear views from the bridge. This ensures a safe working environment.
The plan is for the design to be outfitted with the same state-of-the-art fish handling equipment which is found onboard our live fish carriers. A system has been planned for the transport of live fish - both smolts and fish ready for processing.
The fish is loaded into the two cargo tanks at the same time with pressure loading, and passes through fish counters. The cargo tanks are equipped with automatic tank washing systems, sliding bulkheads and a well-developed circulation system with oxygen supply.
The fish feed is transported by a telescopic feed crane. It is blown from the loading area through a measuring and weighing system, up through the crane and out to the feed barge. The system is remote-controlled and powered by low-pressure compressors below the deck. This ensures a gentle treatment of the pellets, has low operating costs and is very reliable.
